Libby’s Story

largeIn January 2011, our daughter, Libby, died of complications from a seizure. She was only 3 years old. We adopted Libby in 2010. We had her in our care since infancy. Libby was born with cerebral palsy and struggled with periodic seizures. However, on the morning of December 26th, 2010 (her birthday), Libby had a major seizure. Ten days later her brain stopped working. She was pronounced dead after hours and hours of pleading to God for healing and telling Him that we will travel abroad with Libby to spread the word of truth through Libby’s miraculous healing. The Lord chose to take Libby home with Him. We cannot express the grief and devastation we endured. We had to bury our daughter and find a way to go on. Only by God’s strength did we get through the most difficult time of our lives.

Libby was such a blessing to us! She was a beautiful little girl. She loved to smile! She loved her Jesus! The first thing Libby did every morning was to go to the picture of Jesus on the wall and give him her biggest smile! No smile she gave was bigger than that one! She also loved to look through her children’s bible while holding her favorite stuffed animal named “Hooshga”. “Hooshga” was a stuffed turtle that Libby adored and always included him in her bible time. After Libby’s death, we knew that we had to follow the Lord’s leading. He said He had to take her home but that He was going to start a great ministry and keep her memory alive through “Libby’s Hope Project”. This special ministry will reach out to orphans through the local church. Ephesians 4:12-13 says,” to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ”. Libby has reached the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. She is looking down from heaven with her beautiful smile, knowing that her love for Jesus will be passed on to orphans through the body of Christ. “Libbys Hope Project” will provide HOPE. Libby’s middle name was Hope. She had lots of hope! Libby never lost her hope! She had great hope in Jesus and loved him greatly.

TDP_2020In Libby’s memory, orphans worldwide will receive HOPE with a picture bible produced with the help of the Maryland Bible Society and a stuffed “Hooshga” turtle in a special bag! We are so excited to begin this amazing outreach! In order to get “Hooshga” and more importantly, the gospel picture bible, into the hands of children around the globe, we will be partnering with “IC Orphans”. “IC Orphans” has been ministering to orphans since 2001. “Libby’s Hope Project “ will work together and under the umbrella of “IC Orphans”. Chris, as the founder of “Libby’s Hope Project” will be joining “IC Orphans” as a full-time staff member. He will be presenting the gift bags to churches and offering them as an outreach opportunity. In order to do this, Chris will be considered a missionary needing to raise both prayer and financial support. God’s people in churches will be able to sponsor an orphan by purchasing one of the gift bags for $20. The more gift bags that are purchased, the more orphans that receive the gospel! The gift bags will then (through the church) be taken on mission trips or shipped to the sponsored orphans. Would you consider supporting Chris with prayer and financial support? Would you consider allowing Chris the opportunity to present “Libby’s Hope Project” to your church or through a mission coffee at the home of a church member? By doing so, you will experience first- hand what truly pleases God. James 1:27 says, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

Sincerely In Christ,

Chris and Melissa Grohman and Children
